Position Summary

Position Summary

The Coordinator of the Green Mountain Higher Education Consortium (GMHEC) Employee Wellbeing Program coordinates the effort to establish a culture of health and wellbeing under the GMHEC umbrella at each member school and at the consortium. The Wellbeing Coordinator is responsible for identifying promotional needs, recommending, implementing and evaluating the wellbeing initiatives at the Consortium level and on each campus. The Coordinator is responsible for assessing the effectiveness of the GMHEC employee wellbeing programs and reporting out to management and Wellbeing Teams. The Coordinator will assist each member school with their individual Wellbeing initiatives and programs and create a program for the Consortium. The Coordinator reports to the Executive Director of GMHEC with a dotted line to the Benefits Directors/liaisons of each member school.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions

Please note: The position will transition from Middlebury College Staff to the staff of the Green Mountain Higher Education Consortium with an anticipated date of 1/1/18. The Middlebury benefits associated with this position will end when the positions transfers, and the candidate will then be eligible for GMHEC benefits.

The physical location of this position will be determined in relation to the proximity of the selected candidate’s residence, and will entail visiting all GMHEC campuses.

• Develops, in collaboration with the campus benefits directors/liaisons, creative wellbeing initiatives and strategies and implements them.
• Has a solid understanding of each member college’s programs, initiatives and plans and when possible creates an overarching strategy.
• Assists, coordinates and supports the projects for each school’s Wellbeing Team.
• Assists with the introduction, administration and planning of the Cigna Motivate Me module and Cigna’s Better Health Guarantees program.
• Partners with Environmental Health & Safety, the integrated health coach and other areas on each campus that are involved with health and wellbeing for employees and their families.
• Uses healthcare utilization analysis and trends to enhance GMHEC wellbeing initiatives and/or plan design recommendations.
• Develops and tracks data and creates statistics to measure the success of the GMHEC Employee Wellbeing Program.
• Encourages participation by employees through the development of incentive based programs and marketing of employee wellbeing opportunities.
• Communicates effectively and consistently using multiple vehicles and communication channels. Explores and implements new or alternative communication vehicles and methods designed to reach a geographically diverse population.
• Sees the value of cultural, ethnic, gender, and other individual differences in people. Helps to create an environment of learning about, valuing, encouraging, and supporting differences.
• Seeks different points of view and leverages diverse perspectives in group processes and decision-making. Checks own views against the views of others.
• Creates regular communication to all campuses, at least quarterly.
• Manages CIGNA and college wellbeing-programming funds in conjunction with Benefits Directors/liaisons.
• Ex Officio non-voting member of each member college’s Wellbeing Committee.
• Spends time equally at each member colleges.
• Ensures wellbeing program initiatives align and support the different organizational cultures.
• Develops and builds strong relationships with college leadership, management and associates across the GMHEC.
• Ensures the confidentiality of participant information in compliance with HIPAA standards and other regulations and policies.
• Ensures wellbeing activities remain compliant with any requirements under the Affordable Care Act and the IRS.
• Models Wellbeing.

General Responsibilities

Knowledge of:
• Current wellbeing promotion/health behavior theories, practices, health risk and cost relationships, evaluation methods, policies and trends.
• Healthcare/wellbeing industry, emerging concepts, industry trends.
• Claims review experience and knowledge of healthcare data preferred.
• Current with health and welfare benefits and standard healthcare regulations such as ACA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.
• Current with IRS requirements for Benefit & Wellbeing Programs.
Ability to:
• Plan, coordinate and implement wellbeing promotion strategies; evaluate programs.
• Analyze data and make sound recommendations for programs based on the analysis.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Deliver engaging presentations to small and large groups including senior leadership.
• Create new communication methods using web, graphics and social media.
• Build relationships with external and internal contacts
• Develop “Champions” in each member college.
• Manage multiple assignments, set priorities, and adapt to changing conditions and cultures.
• Use creativity, past experience and logic to see a project from concept to final implementation.
• Maintain confidentiality and appropriately handle sensitive information with tact and discretion.
Expected to regularly travel weekly to member colleges to meet with Wellbeing Teams and campus employees: Champlain College, Middlebury College, Norwich University and Saint Michael’s College.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s degree and minimum of five years of work experience in the nutrition/fitness or health and wellbeing fields.
• Master’s degree and relevant certifications preferred or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Demonstrated vision and creativity in program design and promotion.
• Holds a valid driver’s license and has use of a personal vehicle. Contingent upon the successful completion of a background and driving record check.

Experience

• Strong writing skills and graphic ability including experience creating campaigns to effectively market and promote programs.
